The Challenge
Hello scrappy friends! I'm back and better than ever after being hit with strep throat this past week. I'm so glad I turned in this project early, otherwise I don't think I could have created anything of merit this week. Today is the start of Love to Scrap's Challenge #5: Anything Goes. You can make any type of project without any restrictions. My creation is a classroom set of owl and flower pens.
The Sponsor
The design team members were given stamps from this week's sponsor, Jellypark Digital Crafts, to work with. I chose to feature a cute set of four owls. The winner of this challenge will receive 5 digital stamps of their choice from our sponsor as a prize.
The Details
When I saw the four little owls, I thought they would make cute pen toppers. I printed out two sets of owls. I colored in each owl using Copics, circle punched and laminated them. I used foam adhesive and adhered them back to back with a wire floral stem in the middle. I purchased a silk flower bouquet and cut off one stem with a set of leaves still attached for each pen. The pen had a small hole at the end which I made slightly bigger using the tip of my wire cutter and then placed the stem inside. I wrapped washi tape around the barrel of the pen and tied a ribbon at the end for the finishing touches.
I had all of the flowers and more leaves left over from my bouquet so I decided to make a class set of 24 pens for my sister's first grade class. I knew they planted a garden at school this year so I told her to plant the pens in the garden and have the students each pick one and then use it to write a final draft for an assignment related to their gardening unit. I hope they liked it, and I wonder if they thought it really grew from their garden.
Please join us at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog during the next two weeks and link up any of your creations, or just hop on by and see the rest of the inspirational projects from the design team.

Those are adorable! Loving what you've done with the digital art!
Michelle: Cute idea! I like how you used washi tape with these, I've done these before with floral tape & their not as decorative.
