Paper Made Bakery: March Summary

March Kit
There are just a few days left for March's Sunday Afternoon Kit from Paper Made Bakery. This was a really fun kit to play with. Shannon added even more embellishments to the few remaining kits, so if you haven't ordered  yours yet, take a look here.

March's Sunday Afternoon Kit

Summary of Projects
I made four cards and a canvas wall hanging this month for the design team, and I still have so many supplies leftover.

April Reveal
On Monday, April 2nd, the next PMB kit will be debuted. We'll be having a blog hop with two prizes, and we'll be teaming with another stamp company that I can't wait for you to see. When I see a really cute stamped card, frequently the stamps are from this company. Please come back on Monday and join the hop!

Pages from the Heart: Do You Feel Lucky?

Oh Baby, Baby
I shared a layout last week about my niece, Zemira which I posted in the 2Peas Gallery. After 5 minutes in the gallery, I got a request to feature it on Craft Gossip's blog for March 26. It is an inspiration site with daily samples and the latest news in crafting.

Away from my Desk
I am in the middle of some traveling and will be away from my desk until the middle of April. Currently I'm visiting Escondido, CA and will be going to Taiwan and Korea later this week. I'm furtively getting all my assignments finished and scheduled to post while I'm gone, so things should be the same on my blog.

The Reveal
This week Pages from the Heart is hosting a "Lucky Challenge." If you've ever made an item with a luck theme, send a photo of it to our DT coordinator, Andi for a chance to win something fun. You've got to ask yourself one question, "Do I feel lucky?"

March Lucky Project Challenge
Slide-out Candy Bar Holder
Supplies:
Patterned Papers: Authentique
Die Cuts: Authentique
Brad: We R Memory Keepers
Pearl: KaiserCraft
Ink: ColorBox Chalk
Corner Punch: EK Success
Ribbon: May Arts
Candy: Hershey's

I made a candy bar holder that slides open when you pull the ribbon at the top. I've made this once before, and it is quite easy to make. Here is my tutorial. My last one was a get well card with the added bonus of including some chocolate. This one can be for any occasion where you want to wish the recipient some luck and include a little gift inside.

I incorporated this month's challenge's luck theme by printing out an Irish blessing that included wishing someone good luck onto a piece of Authentique's patterned paper that had a neutral background.

I wrapped a die cut piece around the blessing for an additional 3-D effect.

I thought the jumbo brads from We R Memory looked like Celtic coins so I included one at the top to match the sentiment and theme. I got the brad from my friend Becky, thanks!

To see all the other luck based projects from the DT, please take a look at Page's blog or visit the store. Don't forget to enter the contest yourself this week.

That concludes the my Authentique Miracle Girl Kit series. This is the last of five items made from the same kit. The papers are simply gorgeous. Next month I'll be featuring some cards made from Canvas Corp papers for Pages from the Heart.

Pages Reveal: Oh Baby Baby Layout

The Reveal
Since I was given Authentique's "Miracle Girl" collection to work with this month from Pages from the Heart, I really wanted to utilize all the cute baby die cuts and stickers that are included in the kit. I decided to create a baby girl layout. I had some photos of my niece when she was dressed up for Christmas morning, and a more casual photo when we both showed up wearing animal ears.

Oh Baby Baby layout
Last month I made a wall hanging for her using this kit with some of the same photos which got picked up Create Magazine. This time, I wanted to make something featuring Zemira that I could keep so I thought a layout would be nice.

There are so many pieces in the kit, that I've made 5 projects already and I still have a lot of supplies left. You've seen four of them already, and the last one will be revealed soon.

Supplies:
Featured Collection: Authentique's "Miracle Girl"
Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned Papers: Authentique
Letter Stickers: Authentique
Die Cuts: Authentique
Ribbon: May Arts
String: Making Memories
Eyelets: Making Memories
Eyelet Setter: Making Memories
Pen: Pentel
Stamps: Inkadinkado
Ink:ColorBox, Ranger
Glossy Accents: Inkssential
Thread: Coats & Clark
Other: sewing machine

The Details:
One component of our assignment this month was to use handmade embellishments in our projects. I made a clothesline of baby clothes by first setting two eyelets on my layout and running some pink string through the holes. I stamped the same image twice onto two different patterned papers and paper pieced them together to create different colors on the same item of clothing. I also cut out the safety pins from a die cut in the kit and glued it on top of the onesie to look like it is holding the onesie onto the clothesline. I added some Glossy Accents to make it look like an epoxy sticker.

Handmade Embellishments
For the title, I used a die cut as the main title block. I added a smaller die cut to accent it. I used some alphabet stickers for the subtitle. To match my subtitle of "10 finger 10 toes", I used my pinkie finger and stamped along one side of the title. It looks like part of the vintage paper, but it is a subtle way to embellish a page and further play with the theme of 10 fingers and 10 toes.

Title and Pinkie Stamping
For the journaling I mixed and matched some die cuts with hand journaling, and balanced it on the opposite corner from the title. I basically framed everything in and made a central square grouping of elements. I border punched the outermost paper to give it a ruffled edge, matted the layout in gray and machine stitched a zig zag pattern to finish things off.

Hope you liked the first baby girl layout that I've ever scrapped.
