The Product

All the designers were given a different card of trim to work with from the Fancy Pants Designs Ribbon Bundle. I was so happy to receive the Lilac House trim card. When I saw the colors and the lace design, I knew I was going to make something wedding themed. My cousin got married about a month ago and her wedding colors were Tiffany blue and orange. These ribbons were the perfect centerpiece in making a wedding card and gift for her.

The Reveal #1: Wedding Card
First off, I made a card for her wedding present which were his and hers gift cards. Since I had separate gift cards for couple, I wanted the card to feature both the bride and groom. I bought this cut file from the Silhouette store and cut out the clothes, hat and bouquet.

At this point, the card looked very boring and flat and really needed some finishing touches. To make it more 3-D, I popped up the wedding dress and added the Fancy Pants lace trim. That really helped. I didn't want to leave out the groom, so I fold a piece of the blue and cream ribbon in half and tightly wrapped the center with some thread to create a bow tie.

I placed the finished card inside a cellophane envelope and tied a bow around the outside. Voilà!

The Reveal #2: Post - Wedding Gift

Secondly, after the wedding I wanted to frame one of her wedding photos to give as a post-wedding gift. I thought ribbon roses would make a perfect embellishment as she had a lot of beautiful orange roses in the banquet centerpieces.

I usually get my frames at my local thirft store where I never know what I'll find. On this trip, I found some circular frames which I've never worked with, but ended up really liking the shape. It had a dark finish and since I wanted a more pastel look, I ended up altering it. I painted a layer of crackling medium over the frame and then a layer of antique white on top of that. The result looked like birch bark.

To make the ribbon roses, I searched for ribbon tutorials and ended up using this tutorial. I cut an 8" length of ribbon and just rolled and twisted and glued the ending section to the bottom of the rose. It was really quite easy to make. I adhered some of the roses inside the frame and some on top of the frame using Fabric-tac. As a finishing touch, I brushed on some glitter paint to make the roses sparkle.

Paper Made Bakery: Playing with Negative Spaces

The Kit:

July's Fresh Baked Kit entitled Tea for Two features an exclusive stamp set from Sweet Stamp Shop made especially for this month's kit. The kit also contains Cosmo Cricket's Tea for Two paper mini-deck and element deck, and tiny text sentiment sticker sheet. In addition to the Tea for Two elements, there are also May Arts twill, authentic baker's twine, button shaped brads plus more. This is the biggest embellishment pack that I've seen yet.

The Reveal:

This month I wanted to challenge myself by trying to make a double paged layout using a card kit where the largest patterned paper is 6 x 6". I added two sheets of 12 x 12" white cardstock as the base and my photos, and everything else is from the kit. The mini-deck is actually a perfect fit for a layout as two sheets fit across one page, creating a central strip from which to build your layout.

The Details:
I was inspired by an Allison Davis layout that I saw 16 months ago. I knew I wanted to also create a grid of handmade mini-embellishments and have just been waiting for the perfect opportunity. And the time is now.

I stamped the tea bags using the Sweet Shop Stamps onto the Cosmo Cricket papers which I cut out. I stapled on the baker's twine to the tea bags and on the other end glued on a piece of the heart patterned paper to create a tea label. 

One of the sentiments in the set reads, "You and Me To a Tea" and the tea shop I went to was called, "Two A Tea." I took a picture of the name of the shop and made that my layout title.

I stamped the "You and Me" part of the stamp and added that to the photo to recreate the whole sentiment. The stamp was actually too small so I enlarged the stamped image on my scanner and printed it out on cardstock. Don't let the size of a stamp limit you, feel free to reduce or enlarge it to fit the scale of your project. I didn't even have to use my computer to do this part, I just pressed some buttons on my all in one printer. 

I cut my 2 x 6" title photo into three 2 x 2" squares to match the 2 x 2" photos on my other page for a more cohesive look. I framed the title with two sheets from the Cosmo Cricket element deck. Since all the sheets in the pack are the same size, I cut the second sheet in half and spread it out so that it would be larger than the top piece. 

By this time I had 9 hand-made embellishments and 11 photos so I was running out of room for the journaling. I decided to go with something simple and just typed the date and location.

I printed out the journaling and cut it into a rectangle, and trimmed the edges to make a mini-tag which looked like a tea bag label. I connected a piece of pink baker's twine from the journaling tag to a teapot I cut out from an element deck. It was very satisfying to create my own embellishments and to try and utilize the kit to its full potential. I encourage you to create a varied assortment of projects with your kits.

Paper Made Bakery: June Summary

June Summary
With July's reveal tomorrow, I thought I'd show you all the projects I made for Paper Made Bakery in June. Everything was made from June's Cherry Blossom Kit with features Basic Grey's Konnichiwa collection.

I started the month by making a travel summary page as inspired by Polaroid photos and the love stamp from Sweet Stamp Shop. 

I Love Taiwan layout

I wanted to show the versatility of the kit by making a non-Asian themed project so I made a Christmas gift card holder using a toilet paper roll as the base.

This is an easy to make money holder using dryer sheets and a 6 x 6" piece of paper from the petite pad.

I made a lantern with the base being cut from a piece of 8.5 x 11" piece of vellum. There is a Silhouette cut file or hand cut template with this tutorial.

 This is a sunburst cars as inspired by a Japanese sunburst flag.
