Love to Scrap Challenge: Layer it

Hello scrappy friends, I hope you had a great Easter!

Love to Scrap's embossing challenge just ended and the winners will be posted shortly. Today is the start of the next challenge - using layers!

The Challenge
For Love to Scrap's third challenge, you can make any type of project using three or more layers of paper plus an image. I thought a layout would be perfect for this challenge. I used a piece of white cardstock as the base and then two layers of patterned papers from Doodlebug's new Take Note collection for the additional layers.

The Details
I started by looking for a sketch layout challenge and found this sketch from Paper Secret's blog.

I really love the design of this sketch but ended up changing the orientation to better accommodate the digital stamp I chose to work with from our sponsor for this challenge, A Day for Daisies

I selected a stamp entitled, Love Angel, to incorporate it into my layout by having the angel scatter hearts over my photo. I needed the angel at the top of the page so it just made sense to rotate the sketch 90°. I printed out the digi stamp, colored it with Copics, cut it out and adhered it to my layout. The hearts are punched from a Creative Memories border punch. I really liked how the stamp tied in so well with the rest of the layout.

I have a hard time controlling mists and sprays, so mostly I avoid them. This time I decided to attempt it because there are some splashes in the sketch and it would make a nice contrast to the floating hearts.  I tried about three or four times to get larger spots instead of a fine spray before I was satisfied with the results. I ended up only pushing halfway down on the nozzle and then taking out the spraying tube and just dabbing a few spots on manually.

There were some mini banners in the sketch which I replaced with some days of the week stickers. For the finishing touches I layered on the decorative and alphabet stickers, mostly from the Take Note collection

Just when I thought I was done, I remembered that Paper Secrets always add a twist to their challenges, and this one is to add chipboard onto your layout. I dug through my mini stash of leftover chipboard pieces and found a word that finished off my title. It was a plain chipboard color so I painted it with some white craft paint so it would pop among all the rainbow colors.

Love your layout! The floating hearts are too cute, and the splatters look pretty cool, even if you had to dab for the larger ones :) Very cute!
