Paper Made Bakery: October Summary

***For Paper Made Bakery's November blog hop, please go here.***

I hope you enjoyed your Halloween. Since today it is the last day of the month, I wanted to share all my October Paper Made Bakery projects in one place as I could only divulge lil' sneak peeks before.

The Kit
Everything was made from October's Sweet Life Kit, which features cute, country designs from the  Avalon collection by Bazzill Basics Paper with matching images from  Fresh Squeezed Stamps. This kit quickly sold out, but wait until you see the November Christmas kit!

October's Sweet Life Kit
The Projects
I usually scrap in a fun and whimsical style so this kit was right up my alley. I wanted to make a variety of projects so there would be something for everyone. I started off with an altered item - an above the door decorative wall hanging. I really liked the little buzzing bees in the stamp set.

Next I tackled a layout in my newly acquired Smash Book. More info and the free Studio file can be found here

Lastly I made a series of cards. This is a shaped refrigerator card which seemed to be the most popular item of mine this month, which also was my quickest item to create. So you just never know what strikes a chord.

I repeated the buzzing bees in this whimsical love card

This is an all purpose card featuring the stickers in the kit.

Thanks so much for stoppin' by and don't forget to join in PMB's blog hop on November 1st!

Squeeze-A-Palooza Halloween Challenge

The Challenge
A brand new rubber stamp company, Fresh Squeezed Stamps, is hosting their first in a series of challenges called Squeeze-A-Palooza. I wanted to support them as my DT coordinator from Paper Made Bakery, Shannon, is one of the owners. The challenge this month is to make a Halloween project using at least one of their stamps. If you don't have their stamps, there is a free digi-stamp that you can download here. If you would also like to participate, you can read all about the challenge here. There will be a new challenge each month if you want to join in the fun in the future.

The Reveal
Here is my Halloween entry entitled, "Here Comes the Broom!" It is a play on the Nelly song and Kevin James movie both called, "Here Comes the Boom."

The Stamp
As this is a new company, there have only been 4 stamp releases thus far, non of which are specifically a Halloween set. There is one sentiment stamp in the Subway Art set that pertains to Halloween. I wanted an image stamp as I had my own sentiment in mind already. I ended up using the lollipop stamp from the Christmas Treats set.

Christmas Treats Stamp Set

I used the lollipop candy section for my three pumpkins. I colored in the stamped circles with Copics and drew in the lines and features with a black pen. I wrote in the sentiment onto three punched speech bubbles. I popped up the pumpkins and bubbles with varying heights of foam tape. The fence is a Doodlebug sticker and the moss is Flower Soft.

I used the lollipop stick for the broom handle. I hand drew and colored in the witch's legs and popped that up in the corner to look like she is riding overhead. I used white Flower Soft for the clouds and yellow Stickles for the crescent moon.

The top layer of card is vellum with a Halloween themed patterned paper underneath, the same one in the background photo. This is the only Halloween card that I can recall making.

So go ahead and use your stamps in non-intended ways. Christmas stamps can be used for Halloween too!

The Reveal #1
I altered an empty DVD case into an Amazon gift card holder. I give out Amazon gift cards at Christmas to a few people, especially to a couple that registered for their wedding there. Since the theme of the stamp set is book related, I wanted to pair it with Amazon which is still kind of a book store.

First I printed out a sentiment on the spine and the front of the case, plus I added the Amazon smiley logo.

Then, on top of the printed cardstock, I added patterned papers plus the stamped and colored images. Aren't the bookworms so adorable?

I decided to enter this in a sketch challenge going on at Pamela's World of Scrap. This is based on the card sketch below. You can join in the fun here. Entering challenges is a great way to utilize all your sweet stamps.

The Reveal #2
I saw some cute bookmark ideas on Pinterest and thought that would be a perfect match for this stamp set.

Here is the tutorial I used for the corner bookmark (girl worm). I added some twine so it would extend out of the bottom of the book. Here is a tutorial for the top loading bookmark (boy worm). Both bookmarks are really easy to make and would make a great gift, especially paired with a new book.

Aren't they just too cute when peeking over the top of a closed book? It kind of reminds me of Kilroy was here

Don't forget all three new release sets are available for purchase starting today and are on sale for only $10.00. If you want a chance to win a new set, please leave a comment or see all the guidelines for more ways to win.

Paper Made Bakery: You Had Me at Buzz...

Hello scrappy friends, happy Thursday! It is time for my weekly sneak peek with Paper Made Bakery.

Paper Made Bakery: Are We There Yet?

Hello scrappy friends, happy Thursday! It is time for my weekly sneak peek with Paper Made Bakery.

I just love this photo I took of my Dad when we were driving endlessly along the highway in Hawaii. I took this blind over the shoulder shot to see how he was faring in the back seat. I then made this into a role reversal layout. To see the whole project, please see today's post on Paper Made Bakery's blog. It also has a free Silhouette cut file download for the speech bubbles and text that I created.

The Kit:
October's Fresh Baked Kit entitled Sweet Life features cute country designs from the Avalon collection by Bazzill Basics Paper with matching images from a brand new stamp company called Fresh Squeezed Stamps. This company is started by Shannon, our fearless leader from Paper Made Bakery, and Ryann, one of PMB's talented designers from last term. This kit is so sweet, you won't have a need for dessert anymore.

October's Sweet Life Kit
The Reveal:
To celebrate the launch of Fresh Squeezed Stamps which officially begins today, I wanted to make something a little out of the ordinary. I altered this wall hanging into a rainbow picture frame.

The Details:
I went to my local thrift store to find a diamond in the rough to alter. I saw this lil' guy sitting forlornly in a corner on the floor and thought it would be a perfect match for this kit. I knew some TLC would breathe some "sweet life" into this decorative piece. It was in rough shape with a lot of chips and scratches. Even the cashier was asking me, "What is that? Are you going to repaint it?"

Since it was only $5 and I liked the wrought iron, I decided to take a chance on it. I took what I already owned, a small bottle of brown craft paint, and rubbed it over the wooden frame. I then wiped off the paint with paper towel like a stain. The wood turned a vibrant brown color.

I punched out some photos and patterned paper with a circle punch. I glued it to the back of the wrought iron with some Fabric-tac. I stamped and embossed some images and colored them in with
Copics.

For the patterned paper circles, I decorated with the colored stamp images, buttons, brads from the kit and added some Memory Thread of my own, which is a cloth covered wire from DMC. You can curl the wire (green vines) or leave it straight (brown stem).

For the central portion of the wall hanging, I wanted to leave it open but still have some decoration there. I decided to have some buzzing bees flying around. I curled some craft wire around a skewer and attached it to the bee on one end with some Fabric-tac and tape, and on the other end curled it around the wrought iron.

I also curled wire stemmed flowers around the wrought iron to finish out the scene. The kit comes with two flowers, I added a few more Prima flowers of my own.

I hung the completed project above my craft room door. It repeats the shape of the stained glass of my front door, so this project was totally meant to be.

The possibilities are endless with these kits, so just let your creativity be the guide. If you are thinking about purchasing one, the last two kits completely sold out, so don't wait too long.

The Giveaway:
As a way to say thank you for participating in today's blog hop, Paper Made Bakery is giving away two goodie bags which include a set of Fresh Squeezed Stamps inside. You can enter until midnight on Thursday, October 4th. by using the Rafflecopter widget below.
